Security, hosting and data protection at skai
skai runs in German data centres of our hosting provider IONOS, certified to ISO 27001 based on IT-Grundschutz and attested to BSI C5, or on-premises in your own infrastructure. Spaces and permissions decide who sees which knowledge. An audit log records who did what and when. The provider is CodeFabrik GmbH from Osnabrück, Germany.

skai comes from CodeFabrik GmbH, owner-managed in Germany with no foreign parent company. Your data is subject to German and European law.

Spaces and sub-spaces with per-member permissions control who sees and manages which knowledge.

Where is our data stored?
In the cloud, in German data centres of our hosting provider IONOS. On-premises, entirely within your own infrastructure, without content leaving your environment.
Are the data centres certified?
The IONOS data centres are certified to ISO 27001 based on IT-Grundschutz and attested to BSI C5. These are the hosting provider’s attestations, published at cloud.ionos.de/zertifikate, not certificates of CodeFabrik. On-premises, your data centre’s requirements apply.
Is our data used to train the AI?
skai uses the AI providers so that your data is not released for training, wherever the provider offers that setting. Your administrators decide which providers your organisation uses.
Can skai run without the cloud?
Yes. On-premises is a regular operating model: skai runs in your infrastructure with your own sources, vector database and logs. An existing AI model can be integrated.
What does on-premises operation cost?
The price per account is the same as in the cloud, plus €1,000 one-off for setup and €500 per month for maintenance.
Who decides who sees which content?
Your organisation. Knowledge lives in spaces; membership and space permissions decide who gets answers from which sources and who maintains them.
Is there a data processing agreement?
We go through the data processing agreement in a meeting with your IT management and your data protection officers.
